Jackson thriller

The West Bay track meet was a low-key affair at the Town Hall field on Saturday but there were still some noteworthy performances. Several athletes were absent having competed two days earlier at another meet.

Kashief Williams won the 150 metres sprint in the boys 7-12 and Jeavhon Jackson blitzed round in the boys 13-16 400m to win in 61.1 seconds, nine seconds ahead of Dennis Delisser who won the men’s 200m. Jackson also won the 400m. Jackson marginally lost to Paul Laidlaw who won the boys 13-16 200m in 26.0 seconds.

In the female shot put, Miyah Seymour, 14, hurled it 8.30m to win, ahead of Antonea Kellyvernon who threw 7.60m. Jamie Montero of the HyTech Tigers won the boys 13-plus 1500m in 5 minutes 43.5 seconds, the same time as Tiffany Cole who won the girls event.

This weekend’s track meet is at the North Side Old Man Field on Saturday 4 February, starting at 9am.
