I would like to make it known that I am not a wanna-be politician, but I am a very concerned citizen and only want to see the best for our people and our beloved Islands.
It seems that there is still some concern about the West Bay Road. That road is not for sale; it is a public road. It is not private property. Whoever would think of such a thing. Politicians need to inform the people that voted for them of any and all proposals that are being put forward to them. They cannot go and make decisions on such big issues such as our landmark: The Seven Mile Beach road as it is sometimes called.
I would like to also state that I do not believe the idea of the dock is a good one. We have been making it all these years with what we have, perhaps, maybe some improvements. But about bringing all these people here to do something that they say we cannot do it not a good idea at all. What I would like to see is a good departure lounge where the tourists can sit until they get a tender. I do not like to see the tourists standing in a long line with children and disabled tourists standing in the hot sun. Let’s do something about that.
Tourists come here because it is different; otherwise they would probably stay home. Coming ashore on a tender is OK. Maybe we need more tenders. But a dock and more people, I do not think is a good idea. I do not hear anything much about getting another cemetery. The West Bay Cemetery does not have much more space. It’s the little things like this that or politicians should be more concerned about and the welfare of the people and how certain areas in our communities look. Take the Neem tree area by the GT public area. I have spoken about this before. A politician should go and take a look, see if anything can be done there. Everything seems to be about million dollar projects and importing foreign labour.
I know there are so many issues tat I am concerned about; many of them I have written or spoken about already.
