The torrential rains last weekend were a double blow for many of the dogs and cats at the Cayman Islands Humane Society.
Not only did they have to be evacuated because the shelter was flooded, but they got a taste of the good life when they were temporarily fostered be volunteers around Grand Cayman – only to have to return to their less luxurious accommodation once the floodwaters subsided.
Let’s hope the rains have at least highlighted the plight of these cats and dogs to Cayman’s residents. There are dozens of adorable puppies and kittens and even more mature dogs and cats, all in need of loving homes.
The humane society’s regular roadshow on the Paseo at Camana Bay will go ahead this Saturday, May 26 from 2 to 5pm, as there is a more urgent need than ever to find permanent homes for these furry friends.
The roadshows are an opportunity for the public to meet the animal shelter residents and find out about adoption, but also more temporary measures such as fostering, volunteering, dog walking and sleep over programmes.
