Time Attack storms back

Motorsports enthusiasts should prepare for plenty of tyre-shredding action.

The Cayman Motorsports Association will stage its next monthly autocross meet in the Time Attack series. The Progressive Loop will serve as host from 1pm on Sunday, 1 July.

Sunday’s meet comes after the last event took place at the end of May. The association said in a brief statement that inclement weather had caused havoc. The statement reads, “We are truly sorry for the delays and rescheduling. Unfortunately, between the rain and a few other factors, we have been a little derailed. But it’s time to put that all behind us and get back to racing.”

Registration for Sunday’s race takes place on Friday, 29 June, at 6-8pm at Tony’s Toys. Drivers are charged a $25 race fee while spectators can watch for free.

The 2012 autocross season has not been short of excitement as head-to-head racing has increased turnout and drama. Last year’s top riders, such as Keith Tibbetts III in his Valvoline Impreza Sti, Jimel McLean in a Honda Civic and Bobby Hulse in a Toyota Altezza, have kept their form. Andy Bodden’s Mitsubishi Evolution VIII and Roje Williams’ Nissan Silvia have been among those making notable appearances.
