Letter to the Editor
We are writing with this urgent appeal for help making Crewe Road safe again for residents. Right now, we are begging for the police to watch this road for the dangerous speeding trucks that have taken over Crewe Road like a NASCAR track for heavy equipment operators.
For the past month, trucks overloaded with crushed rock for the new bypass have been thundering along Crewe Road past our house at speeds we guess must be 45-50mph. This goes on all day. We have almost been run off the road when doing the speed limit after leaving our driveway. The only time these drivers obey the speed limit and drive conservatively is when they are caught in slow morning and afternoon rush-hour traffic. Furthermore, many of these trucks are in poor condition and some even lack visible licence plates.
Please, police officers, do something about this situation before one of these trucks goes through a house or kills someone trying to drive safely along this road.

These big trucks are also speeding down Fairbanks Road. I have had several near misses when out walking my dogs (there are no sidewalks so have to walk on the road).
Sorry, Jim and Barb, but unless the driver is talking on a cell phone, the RCIPS ain’t gonna do squat..this issue has been reported over and over and over and over…well, you get the gist..
