Mr. Ebanks has been relieved of all his duties related to his position within the ERA.
According to the statement, the decision was based on preliminary findings by Auditor General Alastair Swarbrick from his investigation into inappropriate financial transactions, which was reported to the Board of Directors of the ERA on Thursday, 28 February. The auditor general’s findings have been passed onto the police’s Financial Crimes Unit for further investigation.
The board unanimously supported the recommendations of the auditor general following his preliminary report.
Mr. Ebanks posted on his Facebook page Saturday that he had been served notification that he had been suspended from his post.
Louis Boucher has been appointed as acting managing director of the ERA. Mr. Boucher was previously the acting managing director immediately prior to Mr. Ebanks’ appointment to the regulatory body last year.
Mr. Ebanks took over as head of the ERA in May, 2012.

It continues to sicken me to read article after article of persons placed in a position of trust being accused of misuse of funds, theft, financial irregularities – whatever one chooses to call it.
