Snorkelers, divers and other interested tourists can now access information about the history of the USS Kittiwake via a sign on the public beach by West Bay Dock.
The former U.S. Navy submarine rescue vessel was sunk off Seven Mile Beach in January 2011, and is now rated as one of the best wreck dives in the world.
“The sign gives a valuable insight into the history of the Kittiwake before it came to be in its final resting place off the coast of Grand Cayman.
“There are interesting facts and breathtaking pictures that display the Kittiwake’s magnificent structure and will no doubt have those new to the island itching to jump in and explore the Kittiwake,” said Jane van der Bol of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association.
