Local cricket is preparing to showcase its young talent.
The Cayman Islands Cricket Association is making its final preparations ahead of a International Cricket Council Americas Under-19 T/20 tournament in Nassau, Bahamas. Cayman will be competing Aug. 12-19. A pair of local matches are taking place this weekend to highlight local youngsters and get them match ready. Smith Road Oval hosts two contests on Aug. 9, with match one from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and match two scheduled from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Team captains of the various local squads are asked to attend and get a first-hand view of Cayman’s young cricketers, who will be available to join clubs for the 2015 season. Information on each player will be available at the matches.
Saturday’s matches come after the squad held its final practice on Thursday at the oval.
