Motorcyclists on Sunday raised $1,541 to support Canine Friends, an organization that rescues dogs and sends them overseas for adoption. The “Cruising to the Rescue” fundraiser was organized by the Cayman Islands Motorcycle Riders Association.
“In order for us to rescue as many dogs as we can, it takes funds,” said Casey Keller, founder of Canine Friends. “Vet bills, travel expenses and the everyday living expenses that it takes to take care of our fosters is costly. And we get these funds from the generosity of people strictly through fundraising.”
Since October 2012, Canine Friends has rescued 109 puppies and dogs from the Department of Agriculture shelter and has transferred 325 dogs for adoption in the U.S. and Canada.
