Man killed on cycle was robbery suspect

Police officers investigating the death of a man on a motorcycle in West Bay over the weekend confirmed Tuesday that they were looking into the possibility that the man was connected to a liquor store robbery on Saturday.

The man found at the scene of Saturday night’s motorcycle incident, Erick Bush, 28, was critically injured. He was pronounced dead Monday at the Cayman Islands Hospital.

Mr. Christian said police officers investigating the matter are still uncertain how Mr. Bush was killed, but it appeared that he fell from the motorcycle, which was recovered at the scene.

“I can positively say that he was not pursued by any police vehicle when the accident happened,” Mr. Christian said. “He wasn’t struck by any police vehicle.”

Police are searching for a second suspect, a possible lookout person during the holdup at Joe Ena’s liquor store that occurred around 9:50 p.m. Saturday.

The motorcycle accident happened around 30 minutes after the robbery was reported.

The incident marks the second road fatality in the Cayman Islands during 2014. The first deadly crash, also involving a motorcycle driver, identified as 21-year-old Daniel Grant, occurred in July. Another driver was arrested in connection with that accident, which occurred on West Bay Road.
