It was my pleasure meeting Twyla this past summer during a visit to Cayman (Vargas wins McCoy Prize, 28 December, Caymanian Compass).
She was having an outdoor show with her young art students and it was a thrill to see someone as energetic and talented immersed in her work and initiating a younger generation in the arts.
Since then, Ms Vargas and I have been corresponding and it is truly an honour for me to publicly affirm that I believe that Ms Vargas is an asset to her community and Grand Cayman as well as a talented, generous and outstanding human being.
