Scholars so classy

Scholars International are the most consistent club side in Cayman at the moment.

They are on a roll and proved that by beating Elite 6-0 in North Side last week in a comprehensive victory.

Scholars International coach Antonio Smith said. ‘The score was 0-0 at half time. I wasn’t pleased with that when we should have had a few goals in the first half. So we came out and scored a couple of goals in the first couple of minutes and we showed it off after that.

‘I think we’re on top of the Foster’s League now. I don’t want to make any predictions for now because we could slip up.’

Nikolhai Hill, the modest, unassuming Radio Cayman sports presenter, scored a hat-trick. David ‘Starky’ Harding hit two goals and Naun Rodgriguez got the other.

Hill, 28, played in left midfield in the first half and was pushed up to centre forward after the break. The switch paid off handsomely.

Hill said: ‘It was a good win but not our biggest in the sense of morale boosting. That came in the second leg of the Digicel Cup against George Town. Since then we’ve gone on a six match unbeaten run and only a conceded a couple of goals along the way. I’m getting back to the sort of form I showed last season after a spell of injury.’

On that performance alone he is now being considered for a trial with Arsenal.
