I am a definite supporter of CITES and the government regulation of movement of endangered species. I am an ex-pat from the West Indies and remember as a child parrots being caught and sold in pet shops around the island, many of them dying or being badly injured before reaching their final destination.
The importance of keeping the specific wildlife to their specific home regions is also necessary to protect the local species from being displaced through competition from exotics from the other islands.
I applaud the Cayman Islands for their efforts to protect their unique flora and fauna!
