Man critical after hit and run

A man who police said was struck by a hit and run driver in West Bay Thursday night is in critical condition at George Town Hospital.

The 55-year-old was walking along Reverend Blackman Drive when he was hit by a vehicle that was described as dark green, possibly a Honda Civic.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, which happened around 7.45pm.

Thursday’s hit and run was at least the third such incident to happen in West Bay district since December.

In December, HSA accounts manager Quindel Ames died after she was hit by a car while leaving a Christmas Party at Boatswain’s Beach. The driver in that crash left the scene.

A few weeks later in January, one driver involved in a head-on collision on Mount Pleasant Road also drove away from the scene after the crash.

Arrests were made in connection with both cases.
