STATEMENT FROM CAYMAN AIRWAYS REGARDING FLIGHTS TO CAYMAN BRAC:

Effective immediately, Cayman Airways will transport anyone wishing to leave the Brac or Little Cayman to Grand Cayman without charge. As such Sister Islands residents and visitors seeking to evacuate post-Hurricane Paloma may visit the airport and the airline will try its best to evacuate persons. This will continue for the next four days and as operations permit.

Travel to the Sister Islands has now been limited to essential services personnel only. Persons who have elderly and sick parents in the Sister Islands will also be given consideration for travel.

Minister of Tourism the Hon. Charles Clifford said, “The focus needs to be on getting essential personnel and supplies over to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, and evacuating residents, particularly children and the elderly, to Grand Cayman so their relatives that are residing here can care for them.”

Also effective immediately, Cayman Airways will not be transporting visitors to the Sister Islands until further notice. Visitors who have previous reservations for vacation travel to the Sister Islands are asked to contact the Cayman Airways reservations office by calling 949-2311.

For Grand Cayman residents wishing to send emergency supplies to the Sister Islands, these will be shipped free of costs until further notice. Cargo for the Sister Islands can be dropped off at the Cargo office at Cayman Airways Headquarters, which will be open today (Sunday, November 9, 2008) until 5:30pm, and tomorrow from 9:30am to 4pm.
