Cayman people take a hard look around.
There are worse things happening in Cayman than a Liquor store opening in Savannah.
I am 27-years-old and I have seen some appalling things go on both here and around the world; we need to take a harder look at what’s important to us.
Did you know that at least two police officers every day are now armed in public?
That’s something to worry about and get everyone all riled up.
I have lived in Savannah/Bodden Town on and off my whole life and to see the things that we Caymanians get upset about is sometimes so trifling.
There is a liquor store coming to Savannah, I think great, now I don’t have to go so far to purchase alcohol for dinner or just a leisurely drink at home.
There are people who don’t agree with me but hey I think that’s OK; we are all entitled.
Jacques Scott Liquor is interested in providing a service and I am interested in being a patron. If there are people out there who don’t agree or don’t want to shop there, then don’t.
Don’t make others suffer because we have a difference in opinion.
A vast percentage of teenagers and young children get alcohol right in their own homes. Why not try stopping private residences from purchasing alcohol for home consumption. Sounds kind of absurd doesn’t it.
Everyone has a right to his or her own opinion and beliefs. Why is it that as Caymanians we tend to think it is OK to shove it down one another’s throats all the while playing a hypocrite?
For example, the gay cruise ship that came here.
Never have I been more embarrassed to be a Caymanian. There were actually pastors out there holding up signs against Gay people and quoting God’s word.
I have a question for them, where was your God as you were showing your hatred? I will tell you, standing beside the gay men and women that he also loves and wants to protect. We think that being gay is the biggest sin, well there is no such thing and your spewing of hatred that day was as sinful an act as loving the same sex.
By the way, isn’t ministry supposed to be about shedding light on the world? Well, in my opinion of course, you pastors made it dark that day with your ignorance, but keep in mind that what you reap you sow (Galatians 6:7).
My God loves everyone irregardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or anything else simply because we are all His children.
I know the ALL escapes some people but the fact is you never know someone else’s heart or their personal relationship with God; that’s why he says we are not to judge.
When did we as a people become so consumed with hatred?
Every day there seems to be something else we find to hate. Most recently it was gay people, then Jamaicans and now Filipinos.
Many of who happen to live right here call it home make it beautiful daily and have never uttered a harmful word against each other or us.
Next week I have a great suggestion, let’s just hate ourselves.
We are supposed to be the example and all we can show people from around the world is that we are good at targeting people and ourselves.
Even our own ministers have no decorum as they are constantly targeting one another.
People, as the world is crumbling down around us, why can’t we be the ones to shine and show people that you can live in harmony and peace with one another.
Cayman to me is special because we are made up of every single ethnicity in the world and it’s what makes Cayman so beautiful and makes people want to keep coming back.
Nothing is wrong with not wanting Jacques Scott to open a liquor store but remember that there are people in Savannah, Bodden Town, East End and North Side that are really happy to know it will be there and I personally hope they open soon.
