District Administration has launched a new website – Cayman Brac and Little Cayman: Yours to Explore – to attract tourism to the Sister Islands.
The site at www.itsyourstoexplore.com promotes the two islands as a ‘destination within a destination’.
‘There was a need to increase awareness about Cayman Brac and Little Cayman as an alternative but complementary destination to Grand Cayman,’ Sister Islands MLA Moses Kirkconnell said in a press release. ‘This website achieves that and, in addition, gives businesses on the Sister Islands a better presence on the web.’
The site offers comprehensive island-specific information, including activities and events, as well as travel to the islands and accommodation.
The Sister Islands have been marketed heavily as dive destinations, and District Administration also promotes nature tourism on the islands through print media, presentations and the Nature Tourism website.
The new website complements those two major attractions, but also outlines the Sister Islands’ diverse tourism product with offerings such as family and adventure tourism, bringing all the information about the two islands into one neat package.
‘This tool will provide relevant information to all potential tourists, whether they are looking for a bed-and-breakfast, a safe place to take children or a great destination for hiking, bird watching, rock climbing, diving, or just hanging out in a hammock,’ said Mr. Kirkconnell.
The new website has links to the Department of Tourism site on every page, as well as to the established Sister Islands websites (www.naturecayman.com and www.sisterislands.com) and these will also link back to Yours to Explore.
The site will provide information and contact details for all participating businesses and their locations. The interactive Cayman Brac map can be downloaded and printed for added convenience.
‘Too often, the Sister Islands are seen as an extension of Grand Cayman, but the truth is, each island has its own unique flavour. This initiative will be part of the overall Cayman Islands tourism package but will be operated from here and will be guided by the business sector on these two islands,’ noted Mr. Kirkconnell.
The site also aims to provide a window to the Sister Islands for potential business owners and new residents.
‘I hope the people of the Sister Islands will embrace the website and make use of this powerful tool which is available to them at no cost,’ said Mr. Kirkconnell.
