Butterfield at Governor’s Square

Butterfield bank officially opened its newest West Bay Road branch at Governor’s Square with a ribbon cutting Monday.

With branch manager Yvette Haynes brandishing the ceremonial scissors on the bright and sunny morning, the opening was attended by Butterfield executives, builders, designers and branch staff. Visitors were treated to a tour of the facilities.

‘We are pleased to now be located in our new, spacious, user friendly premises,’ said Ms Haynes.

The bright and airy 6,500-square-foot branch will replace the West Shore Plaza building. Now spread over two floors, it provides an attractive and inviting space for both customers and employees.

More space translates into more customer contact points.

‘There are now 10 teller stations, where there were eight at the other location, and two ATMS instead of just one,’ said Butterfield’s Head of Retail Banking Jeffrey Ebanks.

‘Furthermore, the fully-wheelchair accessible second floor is now set aside for non-cash retail banking services, including new accounts, mortgages and loans.’

Indeed, the improvements in what Butterfield Head of Banking Barry Yetton calls the little things make a noticeable difference at the new branch.

While such touches as a child play area are notable downstairs, the upstairs features a comfortable lounge, and a boardroom with views of the North Sound.

‘We envision that our Seven Mile Beach-based clients may opt to use this meeting space as a more convenient option to making the trek to George Town,’ said Mr. Yetton.

Governor’s Square’s Category 5 rated construction also provides an added bonus for clients.

‘The second floor space is also the new home of our safety deposit boxes, a much more preferable option to the ground floor location we had before,’ said Mr. Yetton.

Aside from back office and meeting room facilities, the upper storey also features a fantastic staff lunchroom.

‘Our employees are the people who make it all happen,’ said Mr. Yetton.

‘We value our staff very much and we are committed to making the work environment as pleasant as possible.’

All in all, the new premises were met with approval by visitors, staff and the day’s first customers.

‘We are very excited to offer our customers these modern facilities and the added banking services, and we hope that everyone will enjoy this new space,’ said Mr. Ebanks.

The branch is holding a customer appreciation day Friday with refreshments and gifts for customers.

‘This will be a great opportunity for customers to visit and familiarise themselves with the new branch and its services,’ said Ms Haynes.
