More than half exercise regularly

More than half the 200 respondents of the most recent Caymanian Compass poll said they exercise at least three times a week, while more than a quarter of the people said they don’t exercise at all.

Of those that exercise regularly, 45 people (22.5 per cent) said they exercise three times a week, and 62 people (31 per cent) said they exercise four or more times per week.

The poll indicated that most people were either avid exercisers or that they did not exercise at all. Only 14 people (seven per cent) said they exercised twice a week, and 22 respondents (11 per cent) said they exercised once a week.

There were 57 people (28.5 per cent) that said they exercised zero times a week.

All the comments to the poll came from those who exercised at least three days a week.

‘I exercise three days a week and I’m still getting fat,’ said one person.

‘I exercise every day,’ said another person. ‘It’s a lifestyle.’

Walking is popular excise among the respondents.

‘I do a 4.6 mile walk, six days per week, plus one hour of other exercise, four times a week,’ said one person.

‘I am 55 years old and run/power walk 30 miles a week,’ said another respondent.

One person said they exercise six days per week for at least 30 minutes.
