The Royal Cayman Islands Police Services has launched an investigation after a 26-year-old man from Savannah was found floating unconscious in the sea at the Sting Ray City Sand-Bar Friday afternoon.
The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call around 5.30pm from a boat at the Sand Bar reporting that a man had been found unconscious in the water and would be transported to Safe Haven Dock.
The man was taken to hospital but unfortunately later died. A post mortem was scheduled yesterday, but results were not available by press time.
The man had been attending a staff party aboard the Real Blessing when the incident happened.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who was aboard the boat or in the Sting Ray City area at the time of the incident who has not yet spoken to them.
