Cubans repatriated

Twelve Cubans, from a group of illegal migrants that arrived in Cayman Brac 30 January were repatriated to Cuba 27 April.

The Cayman Islands Government last week briefed media on the Government’s policy, which is based on conformity with international conventions and obligations.

There are now 31 remaining Cuban migrants in detention awaiting resolution of their situation. This figure includes the 29 who were recently transferred from Cayman Brac following arrival there on 1 April (19) and on 13 April (10).

The repatriated Cubans were transferred from Cayman Brac to Grand Cayman on 4 February this year.
