Pastor O’Connor honoured

Pastor Shian O’Connor, District Pastor for the West Bay Adventist Church was honoured 16 April by the church for five years of unprecedented service during a colourful ceremony on Pastor’s Appreciation Day. The special service was initiated by the Sabbath School Department of the church.

Dr. Jeffrey Thompson, president, Cayman Islands Conference headed the list of church officials in attendance and lauded Pastor O’Connor for his dynamic leadership. In his remarks he noted that Pastor O’Connor has taken the Family Ministries in the conference to a new level by focusing on the felt needs of the family.

For example, during the past for years he has organized marriage retreats, seminars for singles, men’s conventions and a family life cruise to the eastern Caribbean, Similarly, Elder Rohan Riley, president, ASi-Cayman thanked Pastor O’Connor for the pivotal role he played in reaching out to the homeless in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.

Mrs. Carol Lumsden commended Pastor O’Connor for his dedicated work on behalf of the church. One highlight of the service was when Elder Long impersonated the pastor. The audience roared with laughter.

Pastor O’Connor is also the pastor for the Kings Adventist Church.
