Dress Down Day has become exceedingly popular at the law firm of Ogier & Boxalls.
Each Friday the staff pays to dress down, with all funds going to charity.
Twelve charities were selected by the staff at the beginning of the year, giving each charity a month worth of donations.
The firm matches each dollar raised by the staff, according to a press release.
The Cayman Islands Cancer Society was the benefactor for the month of April, receiving a cheque for CI$2,422.64.
The funds will be used locally for education, rehabilitation and support services for those affected with this devastating disease.
Christine Sanders, Education and Office Manager of the Cancer Society was on hand to receive the cheque from Ogier & Boxalls.
‘We are pleased and encouraged that we find ourselves recipients of these kinds of charitable efforts. We had just been discussing the fact that we wanted to run some public-service announcements as part of our community-education programme when we were informed about this donation. The timing was just perfect’.
In January, funds were donated to UNICEF to benefit Tsunami victims. February’s the money went to the National Hurricane Recovery Committee through a donation to the upcoming Blooming Walk event. March’s efforts went to support the Junior Costume parade at Batabano.
The charity selected for June is the Humane Society.
