Man arrested for rape

Police report

The Criminal Investigation Department at George Town Police Station is investigating a report of a rape.

The incident was reported to police on Sunday at 7.42pm. A 27-year-old Jamaican male was arrested at the location on suspicion of rape.

Assault

Police responded to a 911 Emergency at 12.54am on Sunday after a 19-year-old male was run over by a motor vehicle on Water Street, Bodden Town.

Paramedics from the Cayman Islands Hospital transported the male to hospital for treatment. A 33-year-old Caymanian female was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. The Criminal Investigation Department will be investigating.

Reckless act

On Saturday at 12.25pm police responded to a distress call of a man who appeared to be in difficulty out at sea off South Church Street in George Town.

The 28-year-old male was swept out to sea after he lost his surf board. Police said a rescue plan was quickly put into place which involved a helicopter with an officer from the RCIP on board along with Enforcer One from the Department of Environment and paramedics from the Cayman Islands Hospital.

The male drifted back into shore and did not receive any injuries or require any medical treatment.

Burglary

Police responded to a report of a burglary Sunday at 6.20pm at Truth for Youth School on Walkers Road. A 27-year-old Caymanian male was arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary. The Criminal Investigation Department at George Town Police Station is investigating.

Arrests

A 26-year-old Jamaican, a 35-year-old Caymanian and a 30-year-old Caymanian were arrested at 9.15pm on Sunday in the vicinity of Harry’s Bar on Smith Road for possession of ganja and suspicion of consumption of ganja.

Police arrested an 18-year-old Caymanian male in the vicinity of the Cinema on Lawrence Boulevard on Sunday for driving without a licence, driving without insurance, possession of ganja and suspicion of consumption of ganja.

Officers from George Town Police are investigating.

Driving offences

On Friday at around 5pm, police responded to an anonymous 911 call of a vehicle been driven recklessly near the Port in George Town.

The vehicle, a grey Toyota, was stopped by police in the vicinity of Rackham’s on South Church Street. The driver, an 18-year-old Caymanian male, was arrested for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving without a coupon, driving without insurance and driving without a valid vehicle licence inspection certificate.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Caymanian male on Friday at around 5pm for taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving a vehicle without a licence and driving a vehicle without insurance.

Accident

Police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of the Esso Gas Station on Shedden Road on Monday around 9.30pm.

A 47-year-old male charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He will appear in court at a later date.

Property damage

On Wednesday, 19 October, police responded to a report of damage to property on Christina Close off Walkers Road.

A vehicle had its window smashed by a man. Police arrested a 25-year-old man at 4.30pm on suspicion of damage to property. Uniformed officers at the George Town Police Station are dealing with the investigation.
