There is not much Tim Courtis can say.
His High Rollers came from behind and pushed ITS Cayman to the limit in the Cherry Cup finals. Yet his side fell short of another local roller hockey championship via a 6-5 score in game three. The Logic arena of Kings Sports Centre, the host venue for the Logic Adult Roller Hockey League, would see the best-of-three series wrap up last Sunday.
Courtis, the High Rollers team captain, is taking the loss on the chin.
“We’re all about puck possession and defensive effort,” Courtis said. “We had to do our jobs and make sure our goalie Andrew Finlason did not face a ton of shots.
“This was my second season as captain. I took over from our princess Darryl Hather. It was a tall order but I think I coped well.”
The High Rollers won game two 6-4 after dropping game one via a 6-5 overtime score. The defeat means the squad miss out on a chance to add a fourth title in as many years. It was a solid effort in 2011 for the side, who were atop the league at 8-2 thanks to the league’s best offence which featured league leading scorer Dan Etherington (44 points off 34 goals).
