Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee has reported thirteen community positives on Friday, including five children.

Speaking in a video update, Lee said there were also two positives in travellers leaving quarantine.

The results come from 947 PCR tests carried out in total, since last reported at Thursday’s press briefing.

Premier Wayne Panton said during that conference that an announcement on a border-reopening date is expected next week.

Details of a lateral flow test pilot programme were also released.

79% of estimated population vaccinated

Additionally, Lee reported Cayman has now reached a first dose vaccination level of 79% of the estimated population of 71,106.

This works out as 55,819 people, who have received a first dose. It brings Cayman just one percentage point away from the 80% target that had previously been touted by the PACT administration as the milestone required for reopening the jurisdiction’s borders.

53,421 have completed the two-dose course, which equates to 75% of the estimated population.

101,130 vaccinations have been administered in total in Cayman.

A total of 890 people have now received their booster vaccine, which Lee said represents 5% of those over the age of 50.

The vaccination schedule can be found here.
