Three people were taken to hospital Friday morning following a collision involving a Department of Environmental Health garbage truck and a car, police have confirmed.
The incident happened along North West Point Road, West Bay and forced the temporary closure of the main thoroughfare shortly before 10am.
The roadway has since been reopened to vehicles.

Police, in a brief comment to the Cayman Compass, said those taken to hospital following the two vehicle collision appeared to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the Department of Environmental Health, in response to queries from the Compass on Friday, said it is ensuring residents will not be impacted by any interruption of the garbage collection services following the early morning road traffic accident involving “one of our collection vehicles on North West Point Road”.
“The vehicles are currently being recovered. The RCIPS has launched an investigation into the accident, so we cannot made any further comment at this point,” the brief statement added.
Further details on the collision are expected to be provided later on Friday.
