Grandmaster chess challenge

Chess is a game for all ages to play.

With the hit Netflix series ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ still fresh in people’s minds, it’s no surprise that the game of chess has garnered new fans over the last couple of years.

Whether you fancy yourself a bit of a player, or are just interested in watching the manoeuvres, Saturday, 12 March presents an opportunity to indulge either desire. The Cayman Islands Chess Federation is presenting a simultaneous exhibition match with Grandmaster Johan-Sebastian Christiansen – a member of Norway’s national team and compatriot of world champion Magnus Carslen – at the West Indies Wine Co. in Camana Bay, starting at 2pm.

Challengers are welcome, at an entry fee of $50 for adults and $25 for children. On the other hand, if you feel more like a pawn than a queen, you can still go along and watch the action.
