On Saturday, 29 Oct., the Cayman Islands Chess Federation will be holding its Paul Robinson Memorial Tournament, named after the late Paul Robinson, in the George Town Public Library from 10am-1:30pm.
Robinson, who was the Cayman Islands Public Library Services director, passed away suddenly in October 2021.
“Paul supported our initiatives and also competed in some of our events,” said Shaun Tracey of the federation.
There will be three sections in the tournament, designed to cater to a range of abilities: Novice, Intermediate and Open. The schedule features five rounds of 10 minutes per game, with prize-giving at 1:30pm.
The entry fee to participate is $10, and interested parties should email their full name and date-of-birth to [email protected].
Up for grabs are cash prizes, the Paul Robinson Memorial Trophy, age group medals, best female prize and certificates of participation.
