A support staff member of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service appeared before the Summary Court today (25 July) on a charge of breach of trust.

Veronica Victoria Cole, 43, of East End, is alleged to have illegally accessed the RCIPS’s records management system to make an unauthorised search of the database on 19 Feb. this year.

No other details about the alleged offence were stated in open court.

Cole entered a not guilty plea to the charge and opted to have the matter moved to the Grand Court, where she will have the right to a jury or judge-alone trial.

In a brief statement, an RCIPS spokesperson said Cole is employed with police as a communications officer and was suspended in 8 June with full pay, “in accordance with the Personnel Regulations 2022”.
