Walk for the Cure supports Cancer Society

The event always gets a great turnout each year.

On Sunday, 2 Oct. – bright and early – people will gather for the annual Walk for the Cure event at Seven Mile Public Beach.

Organised by CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, it raises money for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society.

The initiative is not just local – it’s regional. Walk for the Cure has become one of the Caribbean’s largest cancer fundraising and educational initiatives, raising over US$3 million over the past decade.

It has attracted thousands of walkers from the Bahamas in the north to Trinidad in the south, and the 13 other territories in-between. It has also spawned a regional network of sponsors, which has grown with each year of the event.

The funds are used primarily to assist with the purchase and maintenance of equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Additionally, they provide assistance, care and counselling to patients and their families, as well as raise awareness and stress the importance of early detection, through education campaigns across the region.
