The Central Caribbean Marine Institute will be holding its annual gala on Friday, 18 Nov. at Grand Old House from 7-10pm, where there will be some amazing Christmas trees to bid upon.
Years ago, the annual CCMI fundraiser was called ‘Festival of Trees’, where the gala venue sparkled and glittered from the decorated trees lining its perimeter.
Each tree had its own colour theme, unique baubles, and was paired with gift certificates and prizes galore. About 10 of them were auctioned off to raise money for the institute, with happy owners having them delivered to their homes or offices soon after, complete with all their bells and whistles.

Then, the theme changed to ‘Festival of Seas’, and the Christmas trees took a back seat for a number of years.
Now, they are back, in all their majesty and glory, at a cocktail-style party event guaranteed to get everyone in the spirit of the season.
Tickets will entitle guests to holiday-inspired food and unlimited drinks. There will also be an opportunity to get a picture with Santa, participate in a special gift raffle, and enjoy live music. And, of course, people should get their paddles ready to bid on those beautiful trees.
The funds raised will support the work of the CCMI, which includes coral reef research, restoration and educational programmes.
Standard tickets are $195 per person, with premium tickets (access to top shelf brands at the bar) at $225 per person. Complimentary valet parking will be available on the night. Buy tickets online here.
