The RCIPS is advising that road closures will be in place in George Town to facilitate Pirates Fest activities this weekend.
Seafarers Way will be closed between Warwick Drive and Fort Street from Thursday, 17 Nov., at 10pm, and reopen by Sunday, 20 Nov., at 10am.
In addition, Shedden Road will be closed to westbound traffic at Elgin Avenue during these times.
Local access to the RBC parking lot for customers will be permitted during business hours on Friday.
Northbound traffic approaching Seafarers Way will be diverted onto Boilers Road, and southbound traffic will be diverted onto Fort Street.
Police are advising motorists to exercise caution while the road closures are in place, and to follow instructions given by officers, or signage placed on the roadway.
Police also noted that, according to the Traffic Act (2021 Revision) Section 116, it is an offence to fail to obey a police roadblock or barrier. This includes moving or bypassing traffic barriers. “Anyone found to be doing so will be prosecuted and is subject to a fine,” the RCIPS said in a statement.
