The sentencing proceedings of former Miss Universe Cayman Islands Tiffany Conolly have been delayed once again, eight months after she was convicted of beating up her estranged partner and his father in a fit of rage.

Magistrate Philippa McFarlane convicted Conolly, 25, of West Bay, on 9 Feb. of two counts of assault, two counts of damage to property, two counts of assaulting police and one count of disorderly conduct.

Following Conolly’s conviction, a series of reports were ordered to give the Summary Court a better understanding of the impact of the assaults on the various victims, as well as Conolly’s upbringing, her social background and mental well being.

While the first set of reports were completed in time, a psychiatric report proved more difficult. It was reportedly completed last month, but included a recommendation for an additional psychological report.

“During the psychiatric evaluation, a recommendation was made for a psychological report,” said Conolly’s attorney, Oliver Grimwood, who requested that the matter be adjourned for time to allow the completion of the psychological report.

McFarlane, however, was initially not inclined the allow the adornment.

“From my understanding, we have received all the reports that we ordered and more,” she said, adding that she could see no reasonable justification as to why progress could not be made in the matter.

Eventually, she acceded to Grimwood’s request, stating that she would grant a further two weeks to allow the defence to obtain a copy of all the documents and decide on the whether any additional reports are to be made.

Conolly has been released on bail and is due to return to court on 6 Nov.

She was crowned Miss Universe Cayman Islands 2022-2023 months before her trial, shortly after which she was withdrawn from the public spotlight. Following her conviction, she was stripped of her title and crown which was pass onto first runner-up Chloe Powery-Doxey.
