Cayman Brac Book Project 2023-2024

Who are you and what is this project?

Coast to Bluff Recreational Access and Conservation (CBRAC) is a Cayman non-profit dedicated to land conservation on Cayman Brac. NatureCulture is a US-based publisher of books concerning land protection. Together we’ve planned a book focusing on the land, culture, and creativity of Cayman Brac to be published in 2024.

What is this book about?

The beauty and wonder of Cayman Brac’s natural heritage and how this is honoured and expressed by artists. The plants, animals, landscape, and surrounding sea have always been a source of inspiration for creatives and this book is a celebration of the relationship between artist and island. This book is a statement: we are proud of Cayman Brac and we want future generations to continue experiencing its wonders.

Why are you doing this book?

  1. to help conserve land on Cayman To us, conservation means keeping the land in a natural state as a habitat for plants and animals and to be enjoyed by all residents and visitors of Cayman Brac.
  2. to celebrate and promote Caymanian arts and culture
  3. to celebrate the beauty of Cayman Brac

Who benefits financially and how?

Everyone involved in creating the book may obtain it at wholesale, and resell it at retail if they wish. In addition, the following groups who invest time and effort into creating it benefit:

  • land conservation on Cayman Brac via CBRAC (via a percentage of sales)
  • artists, poets, and other creatives who take part in the book (via royalties)
  • the publisher (via a percentage of sales)
  • non-profits and other benevolent groups that help fund the book (via publicity)

As a creative, why should I contribute to this book?
