Former Auxiliary Police Constable Courtney Alphonso Levy has been sentenced to four years in prison for trying to intimidate a key witness in a murder case into silence.
Levy, 46, was convicted of breaching the public’s trust by being a messenger for “murderous West Bay God” Roger Bush, who shot and killed his son Shaquille Bush in a “hail of bullets” over a rumour that the younger Bush was having an affair with his father’s long-term partner.
The four-year sentence was handed down on Monday, 18 Dec., by Justice Roger Chapple who denounced Levy’s actions as an “egregious breach of the public’s trust of the highest order” and in need of a “firm sentence of deterrence”.
In June, following a week-long judge-alone trial before Chapple, Levy was convicted on charges of committing an act to obstruct, pervert or defeat justice, and breach of trust by a public officer.
The charges stem from a series of interactions between Levy and Roger Bush’s ex-partner, who was arrested and taken into custody following the 2019 shooting.
Levy approached Bush’s partner prior to her police interview and told her “the boss man said to hold it down and answer no comment”.
“The defendant was Roger Bush’s ‘messenger’, ‘lieutenant’, and connection within the police,” said Chapple while handing down his judgment via Zoom.
“Rather than serving the interests of justice, the defendant was with Roger Bush, pressuring her into silence.”

During Levy’s trial, the witness testified that the police officer threatened her twice – once in the police custody suite, and another time outside a liquor store in George Town.
From her victim impact report, Chapple gleaned that the encounters had shattered her trust in authority figures, specifically police.
“I am in no doubt that my duty requires me to impose a substantial sentence of imprisonment in order to properly [reflect] the gravity of these offences,” said Chapple.
On the first count, Chapple handed down a sentence of four years’ imprisonment, followed by two years for the second count. However, he ordered that both sentences run concurrently so Levy will only spend four years behind bars.
He was taken into custody Monday, having been on bail since the investigations began.
The RCIPS has previously confirmed that Levy was relieved of his duties following his arrest.
