A Flow outage has left customers in Bodden Town without internet service, prompting utilities watchdog OfReg to call an urgent meeting with the telecommunications company.
Flow has posted on its social media pages that its technical team is working on sorting out the problem.
“We are on it,” the company’s post says, advising that restoration is under way.
Flow apologised to affected customers, and stated that teams of technician had been onsite throughout the night investigating the source of the outage “and are working diligently to resolve and restore service to get you back up and streaming as soon as possible”.
In a statement issued on Tuesday afternoon, OfReg said it had met with Flow country manager, Cristina Spratt “seeking an urgent update on the extended and unresolved outage on its network, affecting residents and businesses in the Bodden Town area since yesterday, Monday, 4 March”.
As of Tuesday afternoon, customers in the Bodden Town area were still without service.
Sonji Myles, ICT director at OfReg, said in the statement, “We called a meeting with FLOW this morning to get a full understanding on the nature of the problem on their network in the Bodden Town area. Many customers currently have no access to internet services and some also have issues with voice calls and TV service – this is extremely concerning.
“Flow has identified that the problem is hardware related and are working to resolve the equipment failure as soon as possible. They were not able to say when services would be fully restored but Ms. Spratt confirmed that she has focused all resources at resolving the issue in order to get customers back online.”
The regulator stated that it would continue “to actively monitor the situation closely”.
Several residents of Bodden Town and Newlands took to social media to complain that not only were they without service, but they had also been unable to contact Flow customer service to find out what was happening.

It is about time that OfReg approve Starlink for operation in the Cayman Islands. We need effective solutions and competition in this sector. The sister Islands, in particular Little Cayman, receive terrible service from both Flow and Digicel, and Starlink would be an immediate solution to that problem. There is no downside to the people in the Cayman Islands if Starlink was permitted to operate here.
