On the heels of Flow announcing a delay in shutting down its candw.ky email service earlier this week, its customers are now being targeted with a scam email purporting to help them migrate to a new email system.
The email, with the subject line ‘Important Guide: Your FLOW Cayman Islands Email Service: June 2026’, appears to come from the email address [email protected], and provides a link to ‘enable email forwarding’.
Flow, when contacted by the Compass, confirmed the email was not genuine and advised recipients not to click on any links contained therein.
A company spokesperson said, “FLOW Cayman Islands has been made aware of an email sent from the email address [email protected] and is confirming that it is a phishing/scam email. Official FLOW communications are sent only from authorised company domains.
“Customers are encouraged to verify the sender’s email address and avoid clicking on suspicious links.”
Flow announced last month that it intended to cease providing the email service, known locally as ‘candy wacky’, from August, with incoming and outgoing emails ceasing at the end of June and July, respectively.
However, telecommunications regulator OfReg ordered the company to continue to offer the email service for the time being, until a longer notice period for customers could be worked out.
Flow has said that the candw.ky email service was “approaching end of life and will no longer receive the updates and security enhancements necessary to meet evolving technology and safety standards”.
