Public officer Ricardo Roach, alongside 18 other people, has been summoned to appear in court to answer for a range of offences from bribery to data protection breaches following an Anti-Corruption Commission probe.

Included in the summons list is Christopher Douglas Wight, brother of George Town West MP David Wight. Christopher Wight has been asked to appear in court for allegedly unlawfully obtaining personal data in breach of the Data Protection Act 2017, said a statement from the Anti-Corruption Commission on Friday.

Christopher Wight, when contacted by the Compass on Friday, said he could not comment on the matter, following instructions from his attorney.

Wight, 65, of George Town, is set to appear in court on 3 Sept. at 10am along with 17 others issued with a summons.

Leroy Smalling, 42, of George Town, has been summoned to court on 6 Aug. to answer for the offence of bribery of a public officer.

Roach, 37, of Bodden Town, has been summoned to court on the offences of bribery of a public officer and fraud on the government.

Fritz Alberth McPherson, 45, of Bodden Town, and Andy Wellington Smith, 41, of George Town, have been summoned for the offence of bribery of a public officer and unlawfully obtaining personal data contrary to the Data Protection Act 2017.

Public officers Kristina Bryan, 36, of West Bay, and Erika Monique Wilson-Nairne, 37, of North Sound, have also been summoned to court for the offence of bribery of a public officer.

Details of the investigation have not been released.

This latest series of offences follows last month’s arrest of former licensing officer Marc Edward Chin, 36, Keron Leanard Watler, 30, and Shomar Peabo Bazil, 28, all of whom have all been charged with offences under the Anti-Corruption Act.

Their alleged offences include defrauding the government, misconduct in public office and bribery.
