A driver was arrested for driving under the influence following a two-vehicle collision on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The crash, involving two Honda Fits, happened shortly before 12:30am near the Kimpton Seafire resort.
Three people were injured in the collision. They were transported to hospital, where they were treated for what police described as “serious but non-life threatening injuries”. Two had been released from hospital by mid-afternoon Sunday.
The roadway was temporarily closed while police conducted investigations, and was reopened around 3am.
Police said their investigations indicate that the Honda Fits were travelling along the Esterley Tibbetts Highway in opposite directions to one another, when the car travelling towards George Town crossed the central median and collided with the other car.
The driver of the vehicle that crossed the median was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed this collision, or has any information relating to this incident, to call 911, or the West Bay Police Station on 949-3999.
