Police are investigating a serious two-car collision that sent two people to the hospital on Sunday – a man who remains in a fight for his life, and a woman still being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The roadway has been reopened, after being closed while RCIPS crash scene analysts investigated.
In a news release, the police said officers on mobile patrol were alerted by the public of a collision at Goring Avenue and Walkers Road. The officers called 911 and emergency services were dispatched to assist.
After helping both occupants out of their vehicles, the release said the officers began immediate medical interventions on the male occupant, who had stopped breathing and became unresponsive.
The officers conducted CPR until the ambulance arrived. Police later said the man sustained what appears to be serious and life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Police thanked the public, including an off-duty nurse who assisted the police with CPR.
The Traffic and Roads Policing Unit is investigating the incident.
