Twelve Filipino residents who were displaced by a fire on Denham Thompson Way have received relief funds from the Philippines government.
Filipino Labour Attaché Saul De Vries said in a public statement that the fire victims had been “in dire need of support” following the 13 Jan. house fire.
Each affected Filipino resident received US$856.06 to help with their relocation and other personal expenses, according to the Migrant Workers Office in Washington, D.C.

Philippine Honorary Consul in the Cayman Islands Arturo Ursua assisted with distributing the funds.
“They are all doing well and have found temporary place to stay until such time that the damaged apartment has been repaired so that they can return,” Ursua told the Cayman Compass.
The aid came from the Philippines’ DMW AKSYON fund established through the Department of Migrant Workers to assist overseas Philippine workers that encounter difficulties, such as legal, medical or housing issues, while abroad.
