Emergency services are attending an oil spill incident on Linford Pierson Highway, between Bobby Thompson and Agnes Way.

According to a police statement issued 10:30am on Sunday morning, the centre lane of the highway is currently closed and traffic is being diverted onto Crewe Road as the NRA attends to the matter.

The NRA’s Chris Jackson was on the scene to cover the oil spill with sand to prevent it spreading across the road.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area if possible and should expect traffic delays, although traffic around the site of the leak is currently light.
