The Cayman Islands Coast Guard on Wednesday 16 July seized a haul of what is alleged to be 400 pounds of ganja after it intercepted a boat with two men on board.

The pair were seen to throw packages overboard as the net closed in on them and Coast Guard crew recovered packages from the water after it ordered the suspect vessel to stop.

The two men, aged 33 and 34, from West Bay were arrested on suspicion of the importation of ganja and other drug-related offences.

The interception was carried out with help from a police helicopter, which traced and monitored the boat as the Coast Guard vessel closed in.

The two men were later handed over to police and they remained in custody on Thursday as inquiries continued.
