Customs seizes 30 pounds of ganja

The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service says it intercepted more than 30 pounds of ganja in an imported shipment arriving in Grand Cayman.

The seizure was made on 23 April after customs officers identified an imported package as suspicious during routine screening procedures. A physical examination of the shipment led to the discovery of several parcels containing the ganja.

Customs and Border Control, in a statement on Sunday, 10 May, said that as a result of the ongoing investigation, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the matter.

“The investigation remains active, and further inquiries are being pursued by CBC,” the department said.

Marlon Bodden, deputy director with responsibility for investigations, said, “This interception demonstrates CBC’s continued vigilance and commitment to protecting our borders from the importation of illegal drugs and other prohibited goods.
