Santa Claus came to George Town at the weekend and delighted hundreds of children who queued to see the festive season’s main man.
And Santa, accompanied by Mrs. Claus, arrived in style standing in the back of a red pick-up truck at Airport Park for the traditional meet and greet.
Opal Henry, the president of Kiwanis Club Grand Cayman, which organises the annual Santa Landing event, said, the magic of Santa never failed to excite the crowds.
“I have a two-year-old and children have great imaginations,” she said. “They’re very excited by it and want to see and take a picture with Santa.”
Henry said it was the 46th year the Kiwanis Club had organised the Santa visit and that “each year we try to have him arrive in different ways”.
She added, “Each kid gets a free book and then they’re treated to food, drinks and entertainment like bouncy castles, face-painting and music.”
And the families that turned out enjoyed watching Santa in the sun.
Catalya Ebanks-Haughton, aged 4, and mom Nicole Ebanks, from West Bay, emerged from Santa’s tent with the little girl clutching a Barbie book.
She said, “Barbie – I like Barbie.”
Nick Moore, of Bodden Town, made his debut appearance as a dad at the event with baby girl Bonnie, aged 1.
Moore, a compliance officer, said, “She’s enjoying the whole process and everything about it.
“When she’s a little older she can enjoy some of the other stuff here, but she enjoyed the swings and we’ll be back when she’s older.”
Rajithama Parackal Raghavan, originally from India, arrived with Ihan, 4, daughter Ishika, 6, and Ishan, 10.
Raghavan, a nurse with the Health Services Authority, said, “They love it. We have a family Christmas and they’re looking forward to Christmas Day.”
Sireen Bergeron, who works at Macabuca Tiki Bar in West Bay, said baby son Axel, just 10½ months, had been fascinated by the sights and sounds.
She added, “It’s great. The organisation is really good. They have done a great job.”
