Only a Grinch would grumble about the traffic on Tuesday 16 Dec. as the annual Coca-Cola Christmas parade wends its way across Grand Cayman from West Bay to Prospect.
With Santa Claus on a float and Christmas elves giving out toys and Coke-branded treats, plus non-stop Christmas songs, it promises to be a thoroughly festive affair in keeping with Coca-Cola’s global “Holidays are Coming” annual advertising campaign.
The Cayman Islands’ Coca-Cola parade, now in its sixth year, will start at West Bay fire station at between 5:30pm and 6pm and will travel along the highway to West Bay Road into George Town via Cardinall Avenue, Boilers Road and Walkers Road to Windsor Park. The convoy will then go back onto Walkers Road before going along South Sound Road to Hurley’s supermarket and finishing up at the roundabout near Tim Horton’s on Shamrock Road at around 9.30pm.

Dylan O’Connor, Coca-Cola brand manager for the Cayman Islands, said that the parade “grows bigger every year” and will be a “CayMas-style parade” featuring Santa Claus on a float, followed by the Coca-Cola delivery vehicles and anyone else who wants to join in.
“There’ll be anything between 12 and 20 cars in the parade,” he said. “People end up just tagging along and driving behind us with lights on their cars so it’s very festive.”
“It’s just an awesome opportunity for us to give back to the community,” added O’Connor. “It gets a lot of support and traction … and we get asked about it every year. People are always super curious about it, and it’s a fun activity for us to do for the community.”
