The Cayman Islands is set to mark the global campaign aimed at breaking down taboos about women’s health through a free, day-long event, ‘Beyond the Cycle’, scheduled for Saturday, 30 May at Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman.

Organised by the charitable group National Children’s Voluntary Organisation, the event is timed to coincide with Menstrual Hygiene Day, which aims to end the stigma around periods and ensure that women and girls can access products, period education and menstrual health services. Speaking at the event will be representatives from Women’s Haven, Ocean Med and Total Health.

Women’s Haven founder Melesia Adderley said that the event was for everyone, not just women and girls, “because menstrual health doesn’t exist in isolation, it impacts families, education, confidence, and overall well-being”.

She added, “For too long, these conversations have been quiet, avoided or misunderstood. Beyond the Cycle is about changing that through awareness, education, and access, while creating a space where real conversations can happen openly.”

Free products

Free organic period products will be handed out at the event and, said Adderley, “I really hope this is something we continue to recognise and support in the years to come. We highlight and support so many important causes like mental health and rightfully so. It’s important to note that menstrual health is directly connected to mental health. It affects confidence, daily life and overall well-being.”

The event will be held between 9.30am and 2.30pm and includes free breakfast for attendees. Free tickets are available online.
