A man has admitted wounding a woman he was accused of raping, when he appeared in court on Friday, 29 May.

Kresnere Attberry Watt pleaded guilty to wounding the victim at an address in Red Bay on 29 Oct. last year.

He also admitted raping the woman on 4 Nov. 2024 in West Bay.

Watt denied a charge of attempted murder.

Crown prosecutor Scott Wainwright told Justice Cheryll Richards that Watt’s guilty pleas to rape and wounding were acceptable to the Crown. The attempted murder charge was not pursued.

A charge of obstructing the course of justice and interfering with a witness was not put to Watt, and Wainwright said that charge would be deposed at the sentencing stage.

Richards set a sentencing date of 11 Sept. and remanded Watt in custody until then.

She ordered a social inquiry report and a victim impact report to be prepared.
