Major power outage hits West Bay and Seven Mile Beach

A massive outage cut power to West Bay and Seven Mile Beach areas, the Caribbean Utilities Company has said.

A spokeswoman said the outage, which happened in the early afternoon of Tuesday, 18 June, was “major” but of short duration.

She added, “The team was able to assess the system load and begin to bring customers back online within 30 minutes of the original outage.”

Power to all affected customers was restored around 2pm.

The spokeswoman said, “The team is looking into what caused the fault.”
